They will be My people, and I will be their God. I will unite them behind a single desire and purpose: to revere and worship Me forever for their own good and for the good of all who will come after them. I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never stop blessing them with good things, and I will put in them a fear and respect of Me so they will not turn their backs to Me again. This powerful promise of God to His people is awe-inspiring. The Father never gives up on His children. If anything, He promises increased blessing to His kids.
I have a six-year-old and a one-year-old. I love giving them presents on their birthday and at Christmas. As a Daddy, I want to give my best to my kids.
In our household, we don't wait until a few weeks out from Christmas or a birthday to begin shopping for presents; that's bad budgeting. Instead we pick up presents year-round as special sales and clearances cycle through the year. We already have all the kids' Christmas presents bought and stored away!
After we quietly purchase a special gift, we carefully place it on the top shelf in our bedroom closet. This ensures that at just the right time, we can surprise our kids with a gift and share in their joy.
It's funny, we might be out at a store with the kiddo's and one of them will see a toy or a book that they really, really want. They'll ask and plead with big puppy-dog eyes. As their Daddy, I LOVE when they ask me for a special gift. And then I'll calmly say, "Not today, not yet." Sure, they might experience disappointment in the moment, but I know what's coming. On their special day, I'll whisk their presents out of the closet where they are safely prepared and parade it to their smiling face. It brings me great joy to bless my kids.
And that's how it is with the Father. He says that He will never stop blessing us with good things. When we're going through a rough patch or things are looking bad, we can trust that our Father is simply shifting things around behind-the-scenes to bring us something better.
It brings the Father great joy to do good things for us. He loves to hear our prayers and petitions, knowing full well that the blessing we're requesting is already purchased and awaiting its big reveal at just the right moment.
What a great Father we have!
