Three Personal Highlights from our second week of worship at SVSU:
1) OUR LIFERS ROCK! Our church start-up is heavily dependent on sold-out, gospel-drenched volunteers who arrive early and stay late to create irresistable environments of influence. I am so thankful for the high-quality caliber of Lifers that the Lord has blessed us with so far!
2) OUR CROWD INCREASED! On average nationally, every church planting statistic says that your week one Grand Opening attendance should drop by 50% in week two. Um, somebody forgot to share that stat with the Lord... because our crowd actually INCREASED!! I'm absolutely blown away the authentic excitement that is spilling over into personal invites. Only God.
3) SUPER COOL STORY OF THE WEEK: During the final song, I noticed somebody taking flash photos. At our Egg Drop Workers meeting, I met the culprit: a meek, foreign exchange SVSU student from Pakistan! Turns out she was walking through campus, saw our bright orange Life Church signage, and wandered into our worship service during the message!!
Here's the kicker: I shared with her about my Indian descent (India neighbors Pakistan). This opened a huge doorway into deeper conversation. She was excited about our Egg Drop this coming Saturday and wants to help (and is bringing a Pakistani friend!).
Then she looks me dead in the eyes and asks: "So, what is this Easter about?"
I replied, "What do you mean?"
She says, "I grew up Muslim. I do not understand why everyone is going home this weekend and looking for eggs. And your gathering seemed excited about the history of Easter.
What is Easter all about?"
HOLY WOW!
So ya, I have a new Pakistani Muslim friend who will be serving at Life Church this weekend. And she will be exposed to the Gospel repeatedly!!
