When I was in junior high, I LOVED snow days. Y'know, the days where it was so cold and icy that the school district told you to stay home?
What made those days a BONUS was that you could catch two solid hours on TBS of the classic 1960's sci-fi opera, Lost in Space.
My favorite character was Robot. Yes, that was his name: "Robot." Clever, right? The metal dude basically just shared one or two original ideas on each episode, but he repeated his ideas over and over and over and over... to the point that this guy could recite Robot's lines after each show.
Leaders need to be like Robot.
We can get wrapped up in the vision and strategy and caught up in the excitement of what God is doing in our organizations, but if we don't infuse our DNA into our people's DNA, we'll experience malfunctions and develop frustrations.
You see, leaders tend to forget that our people have real lives outside of church. Jobs and kids and stress eclipse the 30 minutes you preach once a week.
Vision leaks.
There's a reason why we have to look at our Mapquest directions over and over again. Distractions pop up. We forget. That's why we keep our GPS right in front of us.
The number one prevention for vision frustration is to be a freakin' robot. The Bible says to declare the vision and make it crystal clear. Champion the way forward. And then repeat it over and over on Facebook, Twitter, one-on-one, wherever. Be a freakin' robot!
