The apostle Paul is one of the most recognizable names in Christianity.
He has churches named after him.
He's considered a saint by the Catholics.
He's the author of more books in the Bible than any other person.
And I think his girlfriend even has a beer named after her.
At any rate, here is what he writes about himself:
"This is a trustworthy saying, and everyone should accept it: 'Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.' - and I am the worst of them all." (1 Timothy 1:15)
Let's be honest. None of us really believe that Paul was the worst of sinners. We think he's exaggerating. But in Romans 7:19, Paul freely admits there is a gap between who he is and who he wants to be.
Here's my big idea: God uses ordinary people to change the world.
Seriously, it's NOT the Bible genius' who turn the world upside-down; it's the unschooled, ordinary people who participate in the astonishing! Just look at this list of "godly" men and women, from the Bible, that God used:
My point is that God uses people like you and I to build His Church. It's that simple.
