I grew up in a region of Iowa where
all the elementary schools were named after astronauts.
Ed White Elementary is my alma mater.
So I sometimes have astronauts on the brain.
Like when I talk about our new church start-up.
People will say, "Love the vision of Life Church! But why only once-a-month worship?"
Because right now we're more Freedom 7 than Apollo 11.
When you think about it, NASA was one big start-up.
Apollo 11 was the big mama goal: Walking on the moon.
That's what astronauts do. Heroes like Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin live the dream.
But every dream first needs an Alan Sheperd.
Before there could be an Apollo 11 landing,
Sheperd had to first reach orbit on Freedom 7.
Once NASA nailed orbit, it could aim for the moon.
And that's our strategy with Life Church.
Once-a-month worship is our Freedom 7.
Nail that?
Onto weekly worship services.
