God planted our family in Mid-Michigan in 2009.
Our ministry in this region saw something incredible:
Healthy things grow! Every number has a name, every name has a story, and every story matters to God.
Now, I'm a Gen Xer, so I'm always dubious about claims and numbers. It's just how I'm wired.
That's why this floored me:
PUBLIC BAPTISMS
135 in less than 18 months
Unbelievable. You can't inflate or exaggerate public baptisms. God has been so good.
Last summer, the plug was abruptly pulled.
As our family wept and prayed and cried out to God for direction, He broke our hearts even more deeply for the people of this region.
God whispered to us,
"Bloom where I have planted you."
Trust me, I really wanted to jet. It's always easier to walk away. Staying is harder.
God pointed me to Jeremiah 15:19,
"Therefore thus says the LORD: 'If you return, I will restore you.'"
Why Start Life Church?
- Churches over 10-15 years of age gain 80-90% of new members by transfer from other churches
- Over 60% of our family, friends, and co-workers throughout Mid-Michigan do not darken a church door
- Over the past decade, no county in Michigan had an increase in weekly church attendance
We are starting up a fresh, modern, fun non-denominational church for people who don't like going to church.
