It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday:
As the moving truck packed us up last Friday in Ohio, Josiah's friends surprised him with gifts in our front yard.  Very special moment for the Little Man.

Most Powerful Moment

Long-time readers here know that I rarely embed videos.

The most powerful moment, hands-down, for me at Catalyst 2009 was the highlight on adoption.

Niagra Falls.

There are 143 MILLION orphans around the world.

Farewell Ohio

Last week my mentor asked me what our criteria was that led us to Michigan. 

My reply? 

Amber & I rewinded to life ten years ago. 

Before life got in the way, we were freshly entering seminary.

What was it like to enter the doors of Chapel Hill Church for the very first time?  What was it that drew us in, fueled our spirits, and amplified our dreams of what could be and what should be?
The answer is what led us here.

Has it been ten years?

 

Ohio, you have taught our family so much this past decade.

How to cheer the Cavaliers (2010 is our year!).

How to own our own home.

How to parent a little boy.

How to forgive.

How to trust.

How to hope.

 

Michigan beckons. 

We are excited for our future.

God has been exceedingly faithful.

Farewell Ohio.  Its been a memorable ride.

I was absolutely blown away by everything Chuck Swindoll shared:

• Leave room in your life for the crushing.

10 leadership principles Swindoll has learned in 50 yrs of ministry:

1. It's LONELY to lead.
2. It's DANGEROUS to lead.
3. It's hardest at HOME.
4. Essential to be REAL.
5. It's PAINFUL to obey God.
6. Brokenness and failure are necessary.  The Cross is about AFFLICTION.
7. My attitude is more important than my actions.
8. Integrity eclipses image.
9. God's way is ALWAYS BETTER than my way.
10. Christ-likeness begins and ends with humility.

• "We must be willing to leave the familiar methods without disturbing the biblical message."
