~ Advent Countdown Activity ~

I can finally post what has kept me busy the last couple of days!  I have been compiling an Advent Countdown to do with Josiah this season (and hopefully I can use it again in the future).  I picked up all my supplies after shopping around numerous craft stores.  I began painting like crazy last night.  Yes - I painted all of these little jewelry and craft boxes.  And yes, I stenciled on the numbers too!  Jon helped me brainstorm activity ideas that apply to our family and also bring Jesus into the season.  I also picked up a little treat to put in each box as an added bonus!  Here are pics of how it turned out....

Paper reads - Happy Poinsettia Day!  Make a poinsettia craft!

Reads - Happy St. Nicholas Day.  Read about St. Nick.  Make ginger cookies.  Donate a toy to Toys for Tots.

Mmm....it's always a good day for chocolate!

Some of my favorite prompts I am looking forward to are:
-Have a family ornament exchange
-Take a ride on the Polar Express
-Visit the Reindeer petting zoo (at Cuyahoga Falls on Dec 20th)
-Dance to Christmas music
-Throw a Birthday party for Jesus!
-Have an indoor picnic in front of the fire place.
-Make hot cocoa with all the fixins.

I had to write things down on my calendar so I don't get surprised when things pop up for the day!  ;-)

what a great advent calendar-looks like you did a fantastic job. my boys loved decorating the tree this year too!
