Thank you for taking a few moments to read our profile and get to know a little about us. We hope that after reading this you will have an honest picture of who our family is. We trust that this is the first step on a journey toward a meaningful and open relationship with us.
Although we did not learn of our infertility until we had been married for seven years, our heart for adoption began the day we said, “I do.” We have always shared a passion to expand our family, in part, through adoption. This prayer was answered four years ago with the addition of our son Josiah, adopted at birth. He truly is the biggest blessing we have ever received. We are now praying for another blessing to be added to our family.
You have not yet met us, but we have also prayed for you. We have been praying for strength and clarity in your adoption plan, praying for your family and praying for the child you are now carrying. We also would like you to know that should you allow us the privilege of raising your child, our desire is to give your child a loving, caring home of opportunity.
We met in high school, went to the Homecoming dance together and watched our love for each other mature. Our relationship grew in college through writing letters (yes, before email!) We were married in August of 1998. After both graduating from college and graduate school, we poured ourselves into teens’ lives through student ministry and counseling. In our seventh year of marriage, we discovered our infertility. This led to our lives being touched by adoption in 2006 with baby Josiah.
We love spending time together and make family dinnertime a priority. We enjoy walks with our two dogs, playing games, silly dance parties and family movie time! We also enjoy vacations to places like Disney World and the beach.
Fun-loving and detail-oriented, Amber holds a Bachelor’s degree in science and a Master’s degree in clinical counseling, yet chooses to be a full-time stay-at-home mother to Josiah. Amber is passionate about creating family memories, reading and home decorating.
Jon about Amber:
"Amber is an unbelievably caring and engaging woman who amazes me with her perky outlook on life no matter the circumstances. She supports me in all my endeavors, cheering me on with handwritten notes and authentic words of prayer. Amber always sacrifices for her family and friends. She blows me away with an irresistible personality that always lifts my spirits. You will find my wife to be a very hands-on mom who makes sure to include play time and reading with Josiah on a daily basis as well as occasional craft and baking projects. I can’t wait to see a second child brought into her loving care!"
Jon
Out-going and creatively goofy, Jon holds a Bachelor’s degree in theater and a Master’s degree in Christian ministry. As the senior pastor of a fast-growing modern church, Jon enjoys pouring life into people and seeing them reach their full potential. Both a serious reader and lover of comedies, Jon is the guy you want on your Trivial Pursuit team. He is also in charge of caring for our two little dogs, Juliet the Wonder Pug and Slinky the Wiener Dog.
Amber about Jon:
"I am thankful to be married to a man that I love more each day. He is a loving leader and provider for our family. Jon continues to love me well (after 12 years!) by taking me on regular dates, pampering me and even watching a chick flick or two (don’t tell his friends!). I think it is hard to find a more devoted Daddy than Jon! He is always making time for tickle wars, bike rides or playing superheroes with Josiah. I am so excited to see him grow even more as he has the opportunity to parent a second child!"
Both of our parents live out of state, however, they remain close with us and Josiah despite the physical distance. We visit with them multiple times a year and stay connected with frequent calls and texts. Both of our parents are devoted grandparents and are eagerly awaiting another grandchild to love and spoil! Jonathan has a younger sister who is married with two young boys whom we see several times a year. Amber has two sisters. Her older sister is married with three children. Her younger sister is married with two children. Our children will have no shortage of cousins to play with at family get-togethers!
Home & Community
We live in a quiet subdivision of a small town. Our house is a 5 bedroom ranch with a finished walk-out basement. We love having plenty of space for our family to comfortably stay for visits. The living room is probably our favorite room. We love to sit and read stories together, play games or watch the dogs play (can you say pug & wiener dog fight?). Another great perk of our home is that it is bordered by a large open field in the back. We love to look out the back windows and see the deer and turkey trotting by each day.
The town we live in provides a great sense of community and access to parks, playgrounds and the library. There are often family-oriented events and festivals to occupy us. We also enjoy being actively involved with our church. Many community family events, in fact, are usually hosted by our church (the best one being a helicopter Easter egg drop!).
As you continue to consider the options and plans before you, we hope that our story has provided additional clarity. We promise your child will experience grace, a “no strings attached” kind of love and forgiveness as they grow. We will emphasize education, fun, and quality time as a family. We promise to be there to cheer on your child in the happy moments. We also promise to be there to pick your child up when he/she stumbles along the way. Most importantly, we promise that you will remain a part of your child’s life. Although you won’t experience the everyday moments, your child will grow up in a home where not a day will pass that he/she isn’t reminded of your great love for him/her. We hope to meet and talk with you soon.
